FAQs
Where are your designs manufactured?
All of our pieces are handmade in our workshops and forge in the South West of England, and at our studio and bronze foundry on the Welsh border.
What materials do you work with?
We’re known for our work in bronze, plaster and brass. In 2025 we started working in forged steel - starting with our Clematis Collection.
Can I buy designs that aren’t on the website?
Our online shop holds a curated selection of our work, most of which is made to order, so we’re also able to re-issue designs which are no longer listed. If you’d like one of our older pieces, or you’re interested in commissioning something new, email us at bespoke@jesswheeler.com.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes - we use DHL Express for international shipments, and can crate up most items we make. Our large plaster lights, like our Grape Vine Chandelier, are very delicate and are not suitable for international shipping.
Do you make custom designs?
Yes - we love working with designers and clients to create bespoke sculptures and sculptural lights. We’ve made chandeliers, wall lights and sculptures for homes, hotels and restaurants in the UK, US and across the world. You can find our more about on commissioning page, and by emailing us at bespoke@jesswheeler.com.
Are your lights compatible with non-UK electrical systems?
Yes - we can wire all of our lights up to suit European and North American electrical systems. If you have specific requirements or are from elsewhere in the world, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do for you.
Can your lights be installed in bathrooms?
Most of our lights can be adapted for bathrooms, by swapping out standard electrical fixtures for IP44-rated fittings and coating plaster with a water resistant sealant. Get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Are your lights dimmable?
Yes, and we recommend opting for dimmable lights for gentler illumination. Our lights mostly take standard lightbulbs (e.g. Edison screw bulbs and G9 lightbulbs) which come in dimmable and non-dimmable types.
Some of our designs require a driver (e.g. the Clematis Wall Light), which adds some complexity, but dimming is possible with the right driver. Speak to your electrician first, and let us know if you have and questions.
How should I care for my Jess Wheeler Studio item?
Dust sculptures and lights gently using a feather duster or soft dusting cloth, being careful to avoid chipping delicate plaster.
Cast brass pieces such as our pendant jewellery can be cleaned using a non-abrasive metal polish and soft cloth, which will temporarily remove any patina that has built up.
Do you have a showroom?
We don’t have a permanent showroom, but regularly appear at design events and occasionally host launch parties. If you’d like to know about upcoming events you can join our mailing list using the form at the bottom of this page.
We welcome inquiries from interior designers and architects etc. who would like to visit our workshop in Dorset. Drop us a line if you’d like to stop in.
